The inauguration was attended by Lam Neten, Dasho Dzongdag, sector heads of Samdrup Jongkhar Dzongkhag administration, officials and representatives of Thromde, heads of Regional Offices, Deothang Army and NGO(s), members of Deothang Milk Marketing group, businessmen and the general public of the Deothang geog.
Speaking to the gathering, Lyonpo recounted on how a small veterinary dispensary started in 1960s leading to Regional Veterinary Laboratory in 1980s and then to SVL in 1998 and now finally to CVH & SL from 4 March 2017 onwards. He added that the centre will serve as a reference centre for the District and Geog centres for effective and efficient diagnostic services, enhancing service delivery to improve animal health service coverage contributing towards livestock production, and public health. The people are expected to make the most of it and best avail the services. The present CVH & SL will render clinical veterinary services besides routine laboratory and disease investigative services in a greater capacity. The CVH & SL will be headed by a Veterinary Officer assisted by Lab Technicians and Animal Health Supervisor.
The establishment was built at the cost of Nu. 8.3 million, funded by the Royal Government of Bhutan.
