2-3 September, Thimphu: In order to help achieve Government’s initiative to go paperless, 140 participants from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forests (MoAF) attended a Google Apps training at the conference of the Natural Resources Development Corporation Limited.
The Apps is a cloud-based suite application to promote a paperless working environment and a secure email system for official correspondence. It will also allow a working collaboration across the whole of the government.
During the training, participants were familiarised with the Google Apps overview including its features such as drive, calendar, contacts, groups, sites and security. Participants also learned how to create document, presentation, forms and share the same among others.
Some of the advantages of using apps is that a work is automatically saved and one can easily access to email, calendar, documents and files no matter where and what device is on. The Apps include dozens of security features specifically designed to keep data safe, secure and in control. It also lets individuals to share and edit various files in real time.
It is expected that moving to Google Apps will help to reduce both agency’s overall expenses and its environmental impact.
Meanwhile, the training for the regional offices under the Ministry will be conducted at a later date.
