Gearing towards implementation of food import control system in Bhutan

14-17 May 2019, Phuntsholing: The training workshop on Risk-based Inspection and Sampling of Imported Food is held in Bhutan Ga Me Ga Hotel, Phuntsholing. The objective of the training is orient BAFRA officials on the use of Risk-based Inspection and Sampling Manual for Imported Food Commodities. The training was attended by 25 BAFRA officials from southern Dzongkhags and the entry points and a representative from Regional Revenue and Customs Office, Phuntsholing and WHO Country Office.

The opening session was graced by Mr. Namgay Wangchuk, Director General of BAFRA. He highlighted on the importance of implementation of food import control system and the need of training BAFRA officials on the Manual for uniform implementation throughout the country.

The training is organized by BAFRA with financial support from World Health Organization as part of capacity building needs identified by International Health Regulations (IHR).
