April 5-6 2017, Thimphu: Her Excellency Dr. Barbara Anne Hendricks, Federal Minister for Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety of Germany and her delegation called on the Hon’ble Lyonpo, Ministry of Agriculture and Forests on April 5. During the meeting, the Department of Forests and Park Services presented on the Centre for Tiger and Cat Research and Jhomotsangkha Wildlife Sanctuary.
On April 6, the delegation accompanied by the Agriculture Minister and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Environment Commission, World Wildlife Fund- Bhutan Program and Bhutan Trust Fund planted some 130 saplings comprising of the national tree cypress, Cherry tree, Oak and Dogwood at Kuenselphodrang as a symbol of Bhutan-German friendship. They also took a hike from Kuenselphodrang to Changangkha Lhakhang.
The delegation will be in the country from 5 – 9 April. During their stay Her Excellency will meet with the Hon’ble Prime Minister of Bhutan and visit places such as Royal Botanical Garden at Lampelri, White Bellied Heron at Phochhu at Khawajara, Rimchu Park Range in Jigme Dorji National Park and Mitsichen Riverside among others.
