During the meeting, His Excellency encouraged Bhutan to join the African – Asian Rural Development Organisation (AARDO). He shared that Egypt is one of the experienced countries in the field of agriculture and have achieved lots of centre for excellence in the field. He further stated that Egypt had trained lots of people from African and Asian countries especially through the organisation, AARDO.
AARDO has around 30 members and His Excellency stated ‘Egypt, India, Pakistan, Korea, Nigeria are active member countries hosting courses’ and hence he recommended the same to Bhutan.
The discussion further highlighted the efforts put in for availing more scholarships and cooperation with Bhutan. His Excellency shared that the Ministry of Higher Education has allotted one slot in every two years for a Bhutanese student to study in one of the universities in the field of Agriculture, Medicine or Economics. His Excellency also conveyed the need to increase the female component in participation and declared that they can use this parallel channel for building capacities in Bhutan.
