On November 8, the Dagana Territorial Division was inaugurated at Dagapela by Mr. Kencho Dukpa, the Chief Forestry Officer (CFO) of Dagana. It was attended by heads of different organisations, Rabdeys, local government leaders, private institutions and public.
The staff of Dagana Range and Beat Offices welcomed the new CFO with pride and enthusiasm. In his opening remarks, the CFO expressed his gratitude and good hope for public service. The public also expressed their gratitude and happiness to His Majesty The King, Ministry of Agriculture and Forests and DoFPS for creating the Dzongkhag Divisional Forest Office.
Currently, Dagana has two Ranges and two Beat Offices under Tsirang and Sarpang Divisions respectively. The establishment of Territorial Division is the result of the OD exercise in the country carried out by the Royal Government of Bhutan. With inception of the new Division, it is hoped that the delivery of public services would be much efficient and shortened.
Dagana is located in the southern part of the country. It covers an area of about 1389 kms, with elevation ranging from 300m to 3800m above the sea level. It falls within the temperate zone in the north and the sub-tropical zone in the south, with hot and wet summer and dry cold winter. It has 14 geogs including 3 geogs under Lhamoizingkha Dungkhag with a total population of about 25,070.
The event concluded with cultural programs and vote of thanks by the Beat Officer, Dagapela.
