18 to 19 May 2016, Bumthang: The consultative meeting was held to realign and overhaul feed and fodder development activities in the country. The meeting attended by officials from the four Regional Livestock Development Centers and the National Research Center for Animal Nutrition, Bumthang deliberated various issues and adopted resolutions keeping in mind the recommendations of recent OD exercise carried out. The key resolutions include development of specific terms of reference (ToR) pertaining to feed and fodder development activities including streamlining of reporting system for NRCAN and RLDCs and strengthening linkages among key stakeholders. The animal nutrition is one of the crucial components of livestock production and as such, sustainability of any livestock based enterprises in the country depends on availability of adequate feed and fodder resources. With clear redefining of roles and responsibilities of the main players, it is expected to improve coordination and take way forward to gear towards achieving feed and fodder self-sufficiency in the country to support sustainable livestock production in the years to come.
