Thimphu, 31 December: A consultative meeting between the Department of Livestock (DoL) and Department of Agricultural Marketing Cooperatives (DAMC) was held at the DoL conference hall to discuss on the livestock product marketing. DAMC will be supporting DoL in its 11th Five Year Plan and Stimulus plan for efficient livestock product marketing.
During the meeting, some of the effective collaborations such as establishing mega and commercial farms, product processing facilities, cold storage and warehousing, sales outlets and Kiosks, developing marketing strategy and standard marketing chain for livestock products among others were agreed between the two departments. This will help Accelerated Livestock Development Program (ALDP), a new initiative of DoL to achieve import substitution particularly in livestock products by 2018. The two departments have agreed to strengthen its collaboration and to support each other to achieve the goal.
The meeting was attended by the Directors from both DoL and DAMC along with their senior officials.
