19 June, Haa:  The Dzongkhag Livestock Sector, Haa organised a one day Cattle Exhibition cum Mart in Uesu Geog on 19 June 2015. Dasho Dzongdag of Haa graced the occasion and also present were the officials of Haa Dzongkhag administration, local geog officials and people of Uesa geog. The Cattle exhibition has been organised annually by the Dzongkhag Livestock sector since almost all the people of Haa depend on livestock and their main source of income is generated from livestock farming. Consequently more than 100 numbers of cattle from Uesa Geog, had been seen tethered at Haa military helipad for the day cattle exhibition.

This exhibition is an effort to develop and encourage the quality breed and advantages of rearing good different breeds rather than keeping enormous numbers of cattle at home. The show encompass farmers’ quiz, exhibits of stalls of Agriculture on Organic, Forestry Conservation, Livestock Production and put on show also by the private Karma feeds firm. The prizes were awarded to the winner of the categorised cattle.

As per Dzongkhag Livestock Officer of Haa, he said, it is an annual feature aiming to train farmers on the basic skills and knowledge and to gear towards livestock products and self-sufficiency. He further stressed the need to work harder and as a team to tackle the various challenges of the livestock sector at the farm level. In this era of rapid modernisation and globalisation, collective efforts and group working as cooperatives has turn out to be a key tool to accomplish success. Haa livestock sector is fully committed in working closely with the farmers and shall support them in every best possible way to gear Bhutan towards self-sufficiency in livestock and its products. Dasho Dzongdag also awarded the certificate to Gonor Tshondrel Detshen, a farmer’s cooperatives of Uesu geog.
