  • 5 May 2017: Government Holiday- Zhabdrung Kuchoe

    Zhabdrung-Ngawang-NamgyelAll Government offices and schools in the Kingdom of Bhutan will be closed on Friday 5 May 2017 to observe the Death Anniversary of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel, the Unifier of Bhutan.

    Zhabdrung Kuchoe is observed on the tenth day of the third Bhutanese month. Zhabdrung Nawang Namgyel entered into meditation when he was 58 for 12 years at the Puna Dewai Chenpoi Phodrang in 1651.

  • Exit Interview as part of Exit Management

    Picture1As part of Exit Management, the Ministry of Agriculture & Forest has initiated a system to gather feedback and recommendations from the exiting civil servants from the civil service through exit interview. The objective of initiating such system is basically to gather and understand the key strengths and weaknesses of the agency with regards to its performance wherein the feedback will be used to improve the current existing system.

    Besides, thanking civil servants for their commitment and contribution, during the exit interview, questions were asked to get views on what is working well, what is not working well and recommendation for improvement. A first of its kind was carried out with Ms. Kinley Pelden, Chief Regulatory and Quarantine Officer, Bhutan Agriculture and Food Regulatory Authority who resign from service after serving 17 years of dedicated service to the Tsa-Wa-Sum. In order to fulfill the above objectives, these good practices of Exit Management Interview will be conducted for every civil servants separating from the service.

  • 2nd May 2017: Birth Anniversary of 3rd Druk Gyalpo- National Holiday

    3rd_KingMay 2 is a Public holiday in Bhutan. It is the Birth Anniversary of the Third King of Bhutan. It is also celebrated as Teachers’ Day because it was the Third Druk Gyalpo who began the modernisation of the country and established a modern educational system.

    Druk Gyalpo Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, the Third Dragon King of Bhutan, was born on May 2, 1929. He succeeded to the throne in 1952, following the death of his father Jigme Wangchuck. The new Druk Gyalpo immediately began to take steps toward modernisation of Bhutan.

  • French Ambassador calls on Hon’ble Agriculture and Forests Lyonpo

    DSC06350April 27: His Excellency, Mr. Alexandre Ziegler, the Ambassador of France to India called on the Hon’ble Agriculture and Forests Lyonpo, Yeshey Dorji. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr. Francois from New Delhi and Dr. Francoise Pommaret from the Royal University of Bhutan.

     During the meeting, their Excellencies talked on the possible areas of cooperation in terms of agriculture, forests, food processing and niche products. The Ambassador also shared his interest in the technical cooperation.
