  • Netherlands Ambassador calls on Offtg. Minister

    Neth1September 6, 2016, Thimphu: His Excellency Mr. Alphonsus H.M. Stoelinga, Ambassador of the Netherlands called on Mr. Rinzin Dorji, Offtg. Minister of Agriculture and Forests.

    During the meeting, they discussed how the Netherlands can support Bhutan in maintenance of farm roads, which they agreed will help in strengthening and empowering local government through capacity building in farm road maintenance of the people at the grassroots level.

  • New Secretary joins Ministry of Agriculture and Forests

    Dasho Rinzin DorjiAugust 17, Thimphu: The Hon’ble Dasho Rinzin Dorji is the new Secretary for the Ministry of Agriculture and Forests. His Majesty The King conferred Trashi Khadar to him along with other three newly appointed Secretaries yesterday.

    Prior to his current appointment, Dasho has served as the Director General for the Construction Development Board, Ministry of Works and Human Settlement. Dasho started his career as an Accountant at the Department of Industry in 1984. He also served as a Trainee Officer and Administrative Officer at the Department of Geology and Mines. Following this, he has served as a Regional Director for Trade and Industry Office in Gelephu and as Deputy Secretary for Ministry of Economic Affairs. Further, he was one of the Directors for Anti-Corruption Commission between 2007-20014.

  • Hon’ble Lyonchhoen and Hon’ble Sanam Lyonpo visits Genekha geog

    August 4, Thimphu: The Hon’ble Lyonchhoen Tshering Tobgay and Hon’ble Sanam Lyonpo Yeshey Dorji visited Geneykha Geog in Thimphu.

    During interaction, Lyonchhoen urged the farmers not to sell their land. He also shared them the allocated budget for geog, importance of health and hygiene, education and agriculture for their better livelihood.

  • EU Technical Cooperation Project in Support of RNR Sector launched

    Lyonpo Yeshey Dorji, Hon’ble Minister of Agriculture and Forests with Dr. Johann Hesse, Head of Cooperation of the EU Delegation to Bhutan 21st July, 2016, Thimphu: The Ministry of Agriculture and Forests, Royal Government of Bhutan and the Delegation of the European Union for Bhutan have launched the Operational Programme Estimate for Technical Cooperation Project in Support of the Renewable Natural Resources Sector (EUTCP) financed by the European Union.

    The EUTCP is a Nu.340 Million (Euro 4.6 million) project which will strengthen the capacities of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forests (MoAF) to achieve its objectives of the current, 11th Five Year Plan. Under this plan, the Ministry plays a key role in improving the livelihood in rural areas, ensure food security, and alleviate poverty in the country.
