  • IFAD Missions in Bhutan

    Two teams of mission comprising nine members from IFAD arrived Samdrupjongkhar on 15th October. While Project Completion Report (PCR) Validation Mission of MAGIP (Market Access and Growth Intensification Project) will basically be reviewing and validating the Project Completion Report prepared and submitted by PCU MAGIP following IFAD’s PCR guidelines on 30th September 2016, the Supervision Mission for CARLEP (Commercial Agriculture and Resilient Livelihoods Enhancement Programme) will broadly assess the overall Programme Progress according to the AWPB and implementation initiatives following its formal launch in March this year.

    For CARLEP, this is the 1st Supervision Mission. The mission mainly aims to perform the regular supervisory, accountability and fiduciary responsibilities in line with IFAD’s direct Supervision and Implementation support policies. It also aims to provide support to programme team in identifying and resolving any bottle-neck or emerging issues in the Programme related areas.

  • Executive Order

    It has been observed that the different departments and agencies under the Ministry organize different meetings, workshops, seminars and in-country trainings at different periods of the year at different locations. The Ministry is in view that such events hinders the regular activities of the officials especially when it involves lot of travelling time from the field to headquarters and vice versa more pertinently when they are of ad-hoc in nature. The same issue has also been informally expressed by some heads of local government.

  • Bhutan joins AFoCO Agreement

    untitled-1The Hon’ble Minister, Yeshey Dorji, Ministry for Agriculture and Forests & Vice Chair of the National Environment Commission, Royal Government of Bhutan signed the agreement on Asian Forestry Cooperation Organisation (AFoCO) on 13 September 2016 in Seoul, Republic of Korea (ROK).

    The AFoCO Agreement was adopted in September 2015 and is housed at the ASEAN ROK Forest Cooperation Secretariat, Seoul. Though the Asian Region is laden with vast forest resources and home to vast species of flora and fauna, the globalisation and technological development is becoming an increasing threat to these natural resources and species. The ROK has taken a daunting step to promote and endorse a sustainable development in the Asian region through AFoCO.

  • Notification from CARLEP

    The Food Corporation of Bhutan Limited (FCBL), Phuentsholing and the Office of the Programme Management (OPM), CARLEP, Mongar would like to inform all the bidders who have submitted the Request for Proposals (RFPs) for three assignments related to FCBL that the tender notice issued on 8th July 2016 through the UN website www.devbusiness.com and Kuensel issue on 12th July 2016 has been cancelled.

    This is as per the Royal Governments’ decision, which was conveyed to the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) vide letter no. MoAF/FCBL/2016/397 dated 26th August 2016 and further concurrence issued by the later vide letter dated 22nd September 2016.
