  • Statistics on auction of major crops during Jan-June 2019

    This statistical release is based on analysis of auction data on vegetables provided by Food Corporation of Bhutan Limited (FCBL). The head office at Phuntsholing supported by three regional offices at Gelephu, SumdrupJongkhar and Thimphu furnished the information to RSD, MoAF. The FCBL has 23 depots, five retail outlets and 173 farm shops catering business and services to relevant clients across the country. The release presents volume and value of vegetable crops, species, mandarin & other fruit crops auctioned during the period January to June 2018, and the same for Jan-Jun 2019. This is presented for comparison and give readers a sense of trend in major crops auctioned and handled by FCBL. The key observations and statistical table are provided.

  • Statistics on import of major food items from India during Jan-Jun 2019

    This statistical release is based on analysis of provisional data on import statistics provided by Department of Revenue and Customs, Ministry of Finance, Royal Government of Bhutan. It presents volume and value of import of major food items from India during the period January to June 2018, and the same for Jan-Jun 2019 is also presented for comparison, to give a sense of trend in import. Import of the same items from countries other than India was found negligible and hence not presented here.

  • Statistics on supply of Timber, Stones and Sand by NRDCL as of December 2018

    The Natural Resources Development Corporation Limited (NRDCL) has been functional since February 1984, then known as Bhutan Logging Corporation (BLC) under the Royal Charter-1984. The name of the corporation was changed to Forestry Development Corporation (FDCL) in 1996. A Royal Kasho was issued by His Majesty the King, 5th Druk Gyalpo on 12th June 2007 during the 87th National Assembly session to look into the allocation and use of sand and stone which are scarce resources of the country. Following the executive order issued by the Prime Minister vide PM/01/07/571 dated 7th November 2007, the Forestry Development Corporation Limited (FDCL) was re-structured to form the Natural Resources Development Corporation Limited (NRDCL) with a mandate to extract and market sand and stone at affordable prices in addition to timber business.

    This statistical release is based on analysis of import data sourced from Bhutan Trade Statistics, published by the Department of Revenue and Customs, Ministry of Finance, Royal Government of Bhutan. It presents volume and value of import of major food items from India during the period Jan-Dec 2018, and the same for Jan-Dec 2017 is also presented for comparison, to give a sense of the trend in import. Import of the same items from countries other than India was found negligible and hence not presented here.
