  • 29 May 2018- Lord Buddha’s Parinirvana- National Holiday

    Buddha_ParinirvanaAll government offices and schools in the Kingdom of Bhutan will be closed on Tuesday, 29 May 2018 to observe one of the most sacred days- Lord Buddha’s Parinirvana or Duechen Nga Zom.

    Lord Buddha’s Parinirvana or Duechen Nga Zom is observed on the 15th Day of the Fourth Month of the Bhutanese calendar which this year falls on 29 May. It was on this day that the Buddha was conceived, born, subdued evil, gained enlightenment and attained Nirvana. It is considered as one of the most auspicious days for Buddhists all over the world.

  • G2C Database Services Training for the Livestock Officials of Eastern Region

    24-26.05.2018, Trashigang: A three days training on TOT for G2C online database services and lead farmers’ training Picture1was organised by the National Centre for Animal Health (NCAH) in collaboration with RLDC, Kanglung to train livestock officials on online sertovice delivery. The training aimed at training and creating awareness on G2C online database services and upgrading their professional working system in the field to enhance public services delivery.

    During the three days training program participants are being oriented on how to apply veterinary drug indents, requisition of feed and fodder and input supply through G2C database services under Department of Livestock. In the final day, they are expected to learn on the importance of leading farmers to be delivered by Regional Livestock Development Centre, Kanglung.  The training is being attended by 24 participants comprising officails from Dzongkhags, Central Farms, DVH and other field representatives.

  • Hon’ble Sanam Lyonpo meets EU Ambassadors

    A50X5120Thimphu, 23 May, 2018 – The Hon’ble Minister of Agriculture and Forests, Lyonpo Yeshey Dorji, met with the European Union Ambassador to Bhutan, His Excellency Mr.  Tomasz Kozlowski and Ambassadors of other EU Member States.

    Welcoming the Delegation, Lyonpo commended that EU has been the main partner for Bhutan in strengthening the agriculture, livestock and forestry sectors which are the integral parts of rural communities. His Excellency assured that each cent will be used prudently for the purpose it is meant for.

  • Gearing towards one health

    Under the theme  “In Pursuit of Promoting One Health: Healthy Ecosystem, Healthy Animal and Healthy People”  management of Sakteng Wildlife Sanctuary in collaboration with Trashigang Dzongkhag Hospital and Trashigang Dzongkhag Livestock office organized second nomadic health camp for the people of Merak and Sakteng. Picture1During the camp, livestock officials sensitized public on zoonotic diseases and their risk of transmission from animal to people and domestic to wild animals. Representative of forest official talked about the importance of inter connectedness of people, animal and ecosystem. Further, medical team led by gynecologist made people aware of sexually transmitted disease, maternal and children health, cervical cancer and impact of alcohol consumption.
    Picture2In a camp many women availed PAP smear facilities, family planning especially CuT insertion, treatment and follow up of other gynecological and obstetric cases which is otherwise not available at the BHU due to absence of female HA.
    Numerous people were also treated and screened for non communicable diseases (NCD).  Blood tests were done to screen for STD diseases.

    Camp was organized at Merak on 12 to 14 May and 20 to 22 May for the people of Sakteng with the financial support from Bhutan Foundation.
