17 January 2017: Twenty-five high school students from eastern Bhutan have been undergoing a one month farm mechanisation training which started from January 3, 2017 at the Khangma office of the Agriculture Machinery Centre (AMC). The training had been purposely coincided with the students’ winter vacation to enable the training and to engage them fruitfully. The objective of the training is to impart the importance, benefits and opportunities in farm mechanisation activities in the agriculture sector.
The curriculum consists of operation and maintenance of different farm machineries including the power tiller. The knowledge and skills gained can also be passed on to their families, relatives and village folks upon their return to their villages. Hereafter, this training shall be a routine activity of AMC every January.
