    November 14-25, Paro: Twenty untrained extension officers (EOs) from Thimphu, Paro, Haa, Chukha, Samtse, Dagana, Wangdue and Punakha completed training on the operation and maintenance of power tiller at the Agriculture Machinery Centre (AMC). They were awarded certificates by the Chief-Guest, the Chief Executive Officer of the Farm Mechanisation Corporation Limited.

    November 28, Thimphu: The Department of Agriculture (DoA) and Katahira and Engineers International (KEI) signed the consultancy agreement under which 353 power tillers had been approved by the Japanese Government. The signing was done between the Agriculture Director, Kinlay Tshering and the Deputy Director for KEI, Takuji Kono.

  • Forest Fire Coordination and Planning Meeting held in Gyelpoizhing

    untitled-1November 25, Mongar: Thirty seven participants including ten fire and rescue personals from Kurichu Hydro Power Cooperation (KHPC), ten from the Royal Bhutan Police, five DeSuups, ten forestry personals from Range Office, Gyelpoizhing and two coordinators from Drepong and Tsangkhar community forest fire management groups attended a daylong Forest Fire Coordination and Management Planning Meeting. It was held at the KHPC conference hall with fund support from the Geog Administration, Drepong.

    The meeting was aimed to bring all the agencies under Gyelpoizhing town to work together and share the responsibility on forest fire which is essential to prepare for its prevention and effective response.

  • Lead Farmer Training for 2016 begins at ARDC-Wengkhar

    14731303_1117043611750424_415418132756432805_nNovember 23-25, Mongar: A training for 42 farmers identified from six eastern Dzongkhags who will be the lead farmers in farmer-to-farmer extension approach, demonstration and awareness for promotion of fruits, vegetables and cereal crops under CARLEP-Agriculture component begun at the Agriculture Research and Development Centre (ARDC)-Wengkhar.

    Participants are introduced to the crops and management practices that they will be adopting under CARLEP led by ARDC-Wengkhar. It will be followed by the orchard layout and land preparation in the coming month. Participants will return in January to attend the second training session before taking planting materials to their sites to start implementing what is demonstrated and trained.

  • Pemagatshel New Divisional Forest Office Inaugurated

    untitled-2A new Pemagatshel Divisional Forest Office was inaugurated at Nangkhor under Shumar geog on 17 November 2016. The venerable Lam Neten of Pemagatshel inaugurated the office in presence of Dasho Drangpon, Dasho Dzongrab, Police Officer in Command, Dzongkhag Sector heads, regional representatives, local government leaders and other people. On the day, Trashi Khadar was also offered to the new Chief Forestry Officer.

    The office will benefit the people in receiving the timely and efficient forestry services. At present, Pemagatshel has two Range Offices, one each at Pemagatshel and Ngangla; three Beat Offices, one each at Dungmaed, Yurung and Nanong, and two Checkposts at Kherogompa and Nganglam.
