  • 4th Meeting of SAARC Agriculture Ministers held

    24- 27 June, Thimphu: The Agriculture Ministers and Secretaries of the Member States of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) unanimously reaffirmed their commitment to regional integration to promote agriculture and rural development in the region during the 4th SAARC Agriculture Ministers Meeting held in June 2019 in Thimphu.

    Under the auspices of SAARC, the 4th Meeting of SAARC Agriculture Ministers was hosted by the Royal Government of Bhutan in Thimphu on 27th June 2019. Three meetings preceded the Ministerial Meeting which reviewed past activities and decided new areas of cooperation and collaborations.

  • Ministry held bilateral meetings with Bangladesh and Nepal

    26 June, Thimphu: At the sidelines of the 4th Meeting of the SAARC Agriculture Ministers, the Hon’ble Sanam Lyonpo, Yeshey Penjor had bilateral meetings with Bangladeshi delegation  led by Md. Nasiruzzaman, Secretary for Ministry of Agriculture and  Nepali Delegation led by the Hon’ble Minister for Ministry of Agricultural and Livestock Development, Chakrapani Khanal at Terma Linca. Also present were the Agriculture Secretary, Dasho Rinzin Dorji and senior agriculture experts. The meeting saw

  • DoL builds capacity of stakeholders in fisheries assessment methods

    In line with the letter of understanding between the Department of Livestock (DoL) and Tangsibji Hydro Energy Limited (THyE), eight officials from Druk Green Power Corporation (DGPC), THyE, Jigme Singye Wangchuck National Park and Bumthang Divisional Forest Office attended training on fisheries assessment methods and management in Bhutan. 

    The National Research and Development Centre for Riverine and Lake Fisheries (NRDCR&LF), Haa organised the training at Tashiling, Trongsa from 18-21 June.
