  • Glimpses from ARDC-Bajo

    The Agriculture Research and Development Centre (ARDC)-Bajo was first started in 1965 as a demo farm. In 2016, it was upgraded to a full-fledge ARDC to develop agriculture research and development related services. It covers an area of 50.9 acres.

    Currently, the centre has two sub-centres in Tsirang and Chimipang Royal Project. It caters services to the farmers of west-central region comprising of 5 Dzongkhags: Gasa, Wangdue, Punakha, Dagana and Tsirang.

  • Over 16 Royal Enfield bikes handed over to DoFPS

    10 November, Thimphu: The Project Management Unit (PMU) of the project titled “Enhancing Sustainability and Climate Resilience of Forest and Agricultural Landscape and Community Livelihoods in Bhutan”, handed over 16 Royal Enfield bikes to the Department of Forest and Park Services (DoFPS) in kind support to enhance mobility facilities within Forest Management Units (FMU) located within the Project Landscape in the country.

    The bikes were handed over by the Hon’ble Director of Gross National Happiness Commission (GNHC) to the Hon’ble Director of DoFPS in presence of FMU In-charges and officials from the PMU on 10th November, 2020 in Thimphu. The bikes thus provided shall be used to further enhance the monitoring and patrolling activities within FMUs, which is one of the important components of sustainable management of FMUs.

  • e-RNR Crop Advisory: A one stop platform for farming

    The Ministry of Agriculture and Forests has come up with an e-RNR Crop Advisory, a mobile app targeting the Bhutanese youths to help them take up farming for their livelihoods. 

    The app is an easy platform to disseminate information on know-how of growing agricultural crops through textual, picture and video contents.

    The app currently hosts farming information on four crops such as tomato, chilli, cabbage and cauliflower highlighting how to grow them starting from nursery management to harvesting. More crop information will be added in the coming time.
