  • Bhutan becomes the associate member of International Cooperative Alliance

    With due approval from the Royal Government of Bhutan, the Department of Agricultural Marketing and Cooperatives (DAMC) becomes the associate member of International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) and joins the global cooperative family. The ICA is the apex body of the world’s cooperative movement which acts as the custodian and voice of the cooperative movement worldwide. It is a special support considered to Bhutan’s nascent cooperative movement by ICA which otherwise is rarely considered to government organization like DAMC. The Bhutan’s membership to ICA set a land mark milestone in our cooperative movement.

    Bhutan’s Cooperative movement is expected benefit enormously from the ICA and its 271 member organizations around the world from 96 countries. The members of the ICA have the following specific benefits and privileges;

  • VOLUNTEERS MAKE AN EFFORT TO MAKE BIDHOONG GREEN AND SAFE

    BidhoongGewog, Trashigang, July 3, 2013.The villagers, local government officials and civil servants of BidhoongGewog with the seedling support from Dzongkhag Forest Sector planted 3350 tree saplings for making the Gewog Green. The planned plantation program which could not be done on 2nd June 2013 to commemorate the Social Forestry day due to some urgent works of the public was done on the 23rd June, 2012 with involvement of all the people who stay in the Gewog. BidhoongGup, DorjiWangchuk, a former Forest Officer initiated the program by applying for free saplings from the Dzongkhag authorities in February 2013. The Gewog plans to continue such mass plantations in the near future. BidhoongGewog is the first Gewog who have done such a plantation involving everyone.Bidung Gewog1

  • Hon’ble Lyonpo, Advisor to MoAF visits the dog sterilisation clinic

    Thimphu, 1 July: The advisor to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forests (MoAF), Hon’ble Lyonpo Om Pradhan accompanied by the senior officials from Druk Holding Investments, Hon’ble Secretary (MoAF), Dasho Dzongda (Thimphu), Dasho Thrompon (Thimphu) visited the National Animal Hospital, Chubachu to oversee the mass dog sterilisation and vaccination campaign being conducted.

  • Mass Sterilisation and Dogs Vaccination to be conducted in Thimphu Thromde

    Thimphu: The Thimphu Thromde in collaboration with the Department of Livestock (DoL), Ministry of Agriculture and Forests and Humane Society International (HSI) will be conducting a month-long mass sterilisation and vaccination campaign to control the increasing population of free roaming (stray) dogs in Thimphu Thromde from 1-31 July 2013.

    The program will be launched with an opening ceremony on 29th June at the clock tower followed by a live panel discussion on the BBS TV on 30th June.
