  • Study Visit on Value Chain Development and Market System report

    It is important for all the Rural Livelihood Programs stakeholders to understand value chain need to cooperate and coordinate their activities to satisfy the needs of the end consumer. In Bangladesh, value chain system played an important role in transforming agricultural commodities from raw material to end products demanded by the consumers. Therefore a study tour to Bangladesh was carried out by a team consisting of various officials from different offices.

  • Agriculture Business Idea- “Green Farm Bhutan- Integrated Peri-Urban Agriculture Business” wins the Best Business Idea from Female Participant

    In the Business Idea Competition of Bhutan for 2014 jointly organised by Ministry of Labour and Human Resources and Bhutan Innovation and Technology Center, Thimphu Tech Park in June 2014 the Best Business Idea from female participant was won by the Agriculture Business Idea- “Green Farm Bhutan- Integrated Peri-Urban Agriculture Business” submitted by Bindu Tamang of PPD. The result was announced yesterday and prizes were awarded by Hon’ble Lyonpo of MoLHR.

  • Sixth Batch of Foresters graduate from UWICE

    uwice230 June 2014, Bumthang: 30 Foresters and 5 Natural Resources Development Corporation Limited (NRDCL) Field Assistants celebrated their graduation day on 30 June 2014, at the Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Conservation and Environment (UWICE), Lamai Goempa, Bumthang. The Chief Guest of the ceremony was the Lam Neten of Jakar Rabdhey. Other sector heads of the Dzongkhag also attended the celebration.

    All the students successfully completed a one-year certificate course in Conservation, Environment and Forestry Studies.

  • Consultative Stakeholder Meeting for Riverine Fishery Program

    118-19 June, 2014, Samdrupcholing Dungkhag: The meeting started with a brief introduction by the Dzongkhag Livestock Officer on the purpose of the gathering for the stakeholders’ consultative meeting. He highlighted that this meeting was timely and needed to resolve many issues before the project began. He informed the floor that before planning any programs that are directly related to community concern, it is of utmost importance to understand the consensus and overall views of the beneficiaries. He also shared the information on the mandates of the National Centre for Riverine and Lake Fishery (NCRL), Haa, and successful programs elsewhere in the Bhutan.

    Dasho Dungpa also expressed to the floor on the programs and its contribution to the communities. Dasho also informed that Dungkhag administration has written concern to the Geog EAs and Gups to carry out the feasibility study and do the necessary ground works to expedite the programs. But it failed to be carried out as instructed which was why there was delay in proposing and getting the programs started as per the plan.

  • Technical Workshop on Risk based Food Imports

    26 June, Thimphu: The Bhutan Agriculture and Food Regulatory Authority (BAFRA) is organizing a technical workshop for the food inspectors to discuss the proposed imported food program.The proposed program will identify the procedures for applying and issuing an import permit for food. It will also establish procedures for inspecting imported food at the border and for inspecting food importers against Good Importing Practices.
