    2-3 April, Sarpang: The National Poultry Development Centre (NPDC), Sarpang in collaboration with the Dzongkhag Livestock Sector conducted a two day training on Turkey farming and its general management for the first time in the country. A total of thirty-three farmers from the four geogs of Dekiling, Gelephu, Gakidling and Shompangkha took part in the training.

  • CoRRB Seminar on Nutrition in Schools

    3 April 2014: The Council for RNR Research of Bhutan (CoRRB) organised a half day seminar at the conference hall of Hotel Migmar in Thimphu. More than twenty-five participants from Education, Health, FAO, WFP and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forests attended it. The seminar covered the two scientific presentations, namely, ‘Importance of nutrition among school children through school gardening’ by Dr. Ray Yu Yang, Taiwan and Importance of wash in enhancing nutritional outcome of school’ by Professor Dr. Gueladio Cisse, Swiss TPH.

  • Artificial Insemination program inaugurated in Samdrup Jongkhar

    131 March, Samdrup Jongkhar: In order to popularise superior quality genetic breeds through provision of efficient nutrition and health care management and achieve genetic potentials of the crossbred cows, an Artificial Insemination (AI) program followed by sensitisation cum training was inaugurated in Martshalla geog. The improvement of the genetic materials could mean an increase in the production by more than 1200 litres of milk in 300 days (one lactation length).

    The Geog Gup graced the program as a Chief Guest who highlighted the importance of AI and its benefits for the rural community in his speech. More than 50 farmers of Dungmanma and Gorthongma Dairy Cooperatives, which was established five years ago, attended the program.
