    21 July 2014: AMC, Paro: With the handing/taking eremony of the KR-II Grant 2012 at the Agriculture Machinery Centre (AMC) in Paro, the Hon’ble Chief Guest, His Excellency Mr. Takeshi Yagi, Ambassador of Japan to Bhutan officially handed over 152 units of power tillers to His Excellency, Lyonpo Yeshey Dorji, Minister of Agriculture and Forests.

    Gelephu, Sarpang: Yangchenphu is a small village in Dekiling geog (towards Gelephu highway) situated 8 km from the Dzongkhag headquarters of Sarpang. It has a sparse settlement comprising only 25 households. The farming system more or less practices mix farming with little or no access to modern farming technologies. Their traditional farming is deprived of field irrigation as the water source is inaccessible. It is also de-motivated by the inflection of wild animals that causes destruction to their crops. These gradually defeated interest in farming, as a result of which the fields remained fallow.

    16 July, Thimphu: The outgoing Indian Ambassador to Bhutan, His Excellency V.P. Haran called on the Agriculture Minister, Yeshey Dorji, today. Their Excellencies talked on the impacts of irrigation, electric fencing, farm roads and picking up of goat farming in the country. They also shared the Ministry’s initiative of bringing the fallow lands under cultivation.
