    15-26 March, Samdinkgha, Punakha: A two week long training from 15-26 March for masons and supervisors to construct biogas plants was organised in Samdingkha Geog by the Biogas Project in collaboration with Dzongkhag Livestock Sector, Punakha Dzongkhag. Twenty masons and 12 supervisors were trained on the construction and installation of biogas plants. The masons were farmers from 11 Geogs who have basic skills in construction. The supervisors were livestock extension officers from 11 RNR Centres. During the training, six biogas plants were constructed in Samdingkha Gewog. The training provided the participants with knowledge and skills on constructing  and installing biogas plants. They will now be able to assist interested farmers who wish to construct biogas plants in the rural households in 11 Geogs.

    21-28 March, Phuentsholing: Around seventy-eight participants including officials from Livestock, Health, Disaster Management, BAFRA and the Royal Bhutan Police completed an eight day training which helped them to understand and experience the Bird Flu control and response activities. The training was conducted at the Centennial Hotel in Phuentsholing.

  • VeGoT Project, Chukha: Improving the Nutritional Status for school children

    29 March 2014, Dharla, Chukha: Hon’ble Lyonpo Yeshey Dorji, Minister for Agriculture and Forests interacted with the Training of Trainers (ToT) participants of Vegetable Go To School (VeGoTs) Project conducted at RNR RDC Dharla Chukha on 29 March 2014. The ToT workshop and project orientation for 19 school teachers from western and southern Dzongkhags who were identified as the pilot schools for VeGoTs programme implemented by the School Agriculture Programme (SAP). The 3 year project is funded by the Asian Vegetable Research and Development Centre (AVRDC) through SDC funding. The project is multidisciplinary in nature, a joint collaboration of three Ministries- Agriculture and Forests (MoAF), Health (MoH) and Education (MoE), more specifically, the Department of School Education, the Royal Institute of Health Sciences, and the Department of Agriculture led by CoRRB, MoAF.

    27 March 2014, Thimphu: The First Annual Performance Agreement between the Hon’ble Minister, MoAfF and the Hon’ble Prime Minister on the five key objectives and three mandatory objectives was signed on 27th March, 2014 at the General Assembly Conference Hall for the financial year 2014-2015. During the signing ceremony, the Hon’ble Sanam Lyonpo said that MoAF is the first Ministry signing this Performance Agreement with the Hon’ble Prime Minister; which basically indicated the importance that the government accords to the Ministry. The Lyonpo said that the Performance Agreement provides an opportunity for the Ministry to reposition ourselves to play a crucial role in fulfilling its objectives and mandates.
