  • Training on Approach to Clinical Examination in Veterinary Practice

    DSC06228A 10 days in-service training on “Approach to Clinical Examination in Veterinary Practice” for Eastern region is underway at Mongar w.e.f. 16-25th June 2014. The Refresher Course Training is organized by Regional Livestock Development Centre, Khangma and is being attended by 47 participants from the field working in Geog Centres and DVHs of Lhuntse, Mongar, TrashiYangtse, Trashigang, Pemagatshel and SamdrupJongkhar Dzongkhags.

    The training is aimed primarily at Field Extension Officers (para-veterinarians), working in Geog Centres and DVHs. The in-service training courses is designed to refresh participants’ knowledge and understanding of core principles in each discipline, as well as discuss any important recent advances.

    Thimphu, 20 June: In order to ensure a sustainable and adequate access to food and natural resources, the Departments and agencies signed performance agreements (PA) with the Ministry, an important mechanism to ensure accountability and help inculcate a performance based culture at all levels of government. PA includes the key objectives, priorities, actions, success indicators and target for respective offices for the financial year July 1, 2014 – June 30, 2015.

  • Awareness Program for Youth Cooperative

    A day long awareness program on cooperatives was conducted as a part of group formation and registration process for Thimphu based Youth Co-operative at the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Conference Hall on 18 June 2014. Some 21 youths who are currently unemployed and are living in Thimphu after their studies have come together to form a youth based co-operative. The main objective of the co-operative is to create enabling environment for the youth towards generating self employment and also inculcate a sense of savings and credit amongst youths. Their main focus of the business will be agriculture and livestock based businesses.

  • Farmers learn about Fruit Thinning and Harvesting Techniques

    wengkhar20 June 2014, RC Wengkhar: A total of 35 orchard owners completed their final round of crop management training under the Systematic Training and Orchard Development Program for the 2013-14 Financial Year.

    The current batch of orchard owners have already undergone two rounds of training- Awareness on Available Technologies and Fruit Cultivation Practices. The recent training is specifically imparted on fruit thinning and harvesting of temperate and subtropical fruit plants. The training comprised of both in-house theoretical sessions and hands – on practice in the research and farmers’ fields.

  • Training on Electronic Traceability for Agricultural Trade Facilitation and Smallholder Integration

    16 -18 June, Thimphu. A three days training on Electronic Traceability for Agricultural Trade Facilitation and Smallholder Integration was conducted with an aim to identify trade facilitation measures and building capacities of government and private sector stakeholders to promote intra-regional learning of such measures in the Asia–Pacific region. The training was organised by the Trade and Investment Division (TID) at UN- Economic and Social Commission for Asia and Pacific (ESCAP) and theBhutan Agriculture and Food Regulatory Authority (BAFRA).
