    unnamed (1)14 January, Thimphu: The project coordination unit (PCU) for MAGIP presented its second quarter progress report (October-December 2014) in a meeting chaired by the Hon’ble Lyonpo Yeshey Dorji. Also present were its sector managers, focal points and official from the Policy and Planning Division.

    Reviewing the progress, Lyonpo directed the PCU to come up with the detailed progress report and present it in the next meeting.

  • Regional Director of ICA-AP visits Bhutan

    UntitledThe Regional Director of the International Cooperative Alliance for Asia and the Pacific Region (ICA-AP), Mr Balasubramanian Iyer, accompanied by the Secretary, ICA-AP Youth Committee, arrived in the country on 10th January, 2015, to attend the National Youth seminar titled “Youth Cooperation for the young, by the young” held on 11th January with a participation of more than 150 youth, government officials, officials from International Organizations and Non-Profit Organizations. The event was organized by Bhutan’s Youth Committee Member of ICA-AP with support from ICA-AP, New Delhi and Department of Agricultural Marketing and Cooperatives (DAMC), Ministry of Agriculture and Forests (MoAF).

    The program was mainly organized to create awareness on youth cooperatives as youth are the future of the nation and what with increasing unemployment in the country, cooperative enterprises could be the future of our youth. The program also highlighted the role of the ICA in Bhutan’s cooperative movement since it’s registration as an associate member of the ICA in July 2013.

  • RNR Extension Center inaugurated in Kurtoe

    3 December Lhuentse. The Renewable Natural Resources (RNR) Extension Center in Kurtoe was inaugurated by Hon’ble MoAF Lyonpo accompanied by Dasho Dzongdag Sonam Wangyel, Lhuentse Dzongkhag. The centre was built with the fund support from Government of India (GOI) under sustainable Development Project (SDP). Lyonpo also granted audience to the people of Kurtoe gewog and discussed on the issues related to human wildlife conflict, Farm mechanization and the issue of Marketing of agricultural produce.

  • Two Farm Roads construction inaugurated in Gangzur gewog

    3 December, Lhuentse. Lhuentse Dzongkhag recieved the ‘Salang tendrel’ a ground breaking ceremony of two farm roads by His Excellence the Hon’ble Lyonpo Yeshey Dorji and Lhuentse Dzongdag Dasho Sonam Wangyel. The first farm road reaches Zhamling chewog benefitting around 20 households. The farm road is 1.3 km which is to be constructed with the Gewog Development Grant (GDG) fund of 1 lakh. The people in zhamling are focused on potato cultivation and they transport around 15 truck trips yearly by carrying on their back till the road point.
