  • Medium scale Feed Mill inaugurated in the East

    UntitledTrashigang: A medium scale feed plant was inaugurated in Namla by the Hon’ble Lyonpo Norbu Wangchuk, Ministry of Economic Affairs on September 20.

    The 32 ton capacity feed mill will produce cattle, pig and poultry feeds and will supply them to the six eastern Dzongkhags of Trashigang, Trashiyangtse, Mongar, Lhuentse, Pemagatshel and Samdrupjongkhar.  Over the past, the supply of concentrate feeds was quite erratic in the east owing to long distance transportation of feeds from other feed companies. With the plant, farmers can now avail feed at affordable prices and the company shall deliver the feeds to the farms wherever possible. Thus, it is expected to solve the earlier feeds related issues in the east.

  • Officials meets to develop strategic plan on RNR Statistics

    UntitledSeptember 29, Thimphu: The Ministry of Agriculture and Forests with support from the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations conducted a RNR Statistics Committee Workshop to draft Strategic Plan on RNR Statistics (SP-RNRS) at the Tarayana Foundation Conference Hall.

    The workshop discussed the outline and contents of the first-draft of the strategic plan for SP-RNRS and way forward process.

  • 2nd CF Networking Workshop held in Punakha

    19 September, Punakha: Punakha Dzongkhag has 37 approved community forest till date with an area of 3355.58 hectares managed by 1171 households. On 8 and 9 September, the Dzongkhag Forestry sector in consultation with Helvetas, organised a two day 2nd CF Networking Consultative Meeting at the Tashi Pelri Hotel in Khuruthang, Punakha.

    The workshop was facilitated by Mr. Tshering Phuntsho, National CF Network Facilitator who briefed the participants on the overall objectives of the workshop, and explained why CF networking is important.

    September 16, 2015, Bumthang: The National Centre for Animal Nutrition (NCAN) Bumthang organised a day long training on Willow (Salix babylonica) Silage making in Bumthang Dzongkhag. A total of 30 dairy farmers from Chungphel Chewog under Chumey Geog attended training. The hands on training provided them a basic skill on making willow silage in plastic bag and operation of fodder chaff cutter machine.
