    28 May, Pemagatshel: A daylong quiz competition on the theme “Understanding the basics of Climate Change”was conducted in Pemagatshel Dzongkhag with the objective to create awareness on the useful information related to climate change. The Information and Communication Services under the Ministry in collaboration with Dzongkhag RNR Sectors such as Agriculture, Livestock and Forests organised the program among 11 geogs. A total of thirty-three farmers participated in the program.

  • Establishment of new AI centre at Dophuchen Geog

    The Chief Guest was the Dasho Drungpa of Dophuchen Drungkhag

    28 May 2014, Samtse: To realise better livestock breed and to enhance diary production in the area, a new Artificial Insemination (AI) centre was formally launched at Dophuchen/Dorokha Geog. With this establishment, Samtse Dzongkhag has now 10 Artificial Insemination Centres. The new centre was initiated by the Dzongkhag Livestock Sector with technical supports from various stakeholders under the Department of Livestock. The key objective of introducing the AI Centre in the Drungkhag is to increase the dairy production through inseminating the desired and better breed semen to improve the cattle breed thereby strengthening the dairy farming activity to boost the income of the rural farmers.

  • Former RNR Family Dr. Kinley appointed Representative in the Kyrgyz Republic

    The appointment of Dr. Dorjee Kinlay as FAO Representative in the Kyrgyz Republic became official this week. A national of Bhutan, Dr. Kinlay holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. His diplomatic and professional career has included assignments with the Ministry of Agriculture, Royal Government of Bhutan, a period as World Wildlife Fund Representative and concurrently Honorary Executive Director of the Royal Society for the Protection of Nature in Bhutan. Throughout his career, Kinlay has dealt with issues of policy and practical implementation in food security and agricultural development.

    Before joining the Food Agriculture Organisation, Dr. Kinley was the Deputy Secretary of the Planning and Policy Division of the erstwhile Ministry of Agriculture.

    27-30 May, 2014, Lobesa: The International Student’s Workshop is one of the Pre-Congress Events held every two years. This year the workshop was held at the College of Natural Resources, Lobesa from May 27 to 30, 2014. This workshop is intended to foster international connections between emerging ethnobiologists and to establish a support network of mentors around the world.
