  • B-Coop shop opened at Gelephu

    Untitled-2Sarpang: Bhutan Cooperative (B-Coop) shop has been established at Gelephu by the Southern Ginger Cultivation and Cottage Industry (SGCCI) group based at Samteling geog on 19 January. The inaugural ceremony was graced by Sarpang Dasho Dzongda.

    The shop will strengthen the marketing of local products through cooperative marketing, assist the cooperatives/Farmers Groups to market their products, make local products readily available to the consumers with standard quality, showcase the proper packaging and quality standards and also create a niche market by developing and promoting potential Geographical Indicator (GI) products.

  • Hon’ble Agriculture Lyonpo meets Austrian Trade Commissioner to Bhutan

    web 1January 21, Thimphu: The Hon’ble Agriculture Lyonpo, Yeshey Dorji met Dr. Oskar Andesner, the Austrian Trade Commissioner to Bhutan based in New Delhi at the Ministry’s conference hall. Also present were the departmental heads for forests, agriculture, livestock and marketing offices.

    Welcoming the Commissioner, Lyonpo informed that Bhutan shares good partnership with Austria particularly in terms of research and forestry. He also acknowledged the Austria’s significant contribution in human resource development and excavation works in the country.

  • CFMG and NWFP Workshop held

    Untitled-2January 18-19, Paro: The Dzongkhag Administration in Paro organised it’s annual Community Forest Management Group (CFMG) and Non-Wood Forests Product (NWFP) workshop. The workshop was chaired by Mr. Gyeltshen Drukpa, Chief Forestry Officer of the Social Forestry & Extension Division of Department of Forests and Park Services.

    The workshop provided an opportunity for the committee members to discuss their problems and to seek instant directions. The workshop reviewed the progress report including challenges encountered during implementation of Community Forest Management plans. Further, the participants were informed that only few committee members had initiated monitoring utilisation of timbers allotted from Community Forests (CF) and thus it was decided that the trend be followed by rest of the CF committee members.
