  • MAGIP’s stakeholders meet Project Implementation Mission

    May 23, Thimphu: The MAGIP’s stakeholders including its sector managers and focal points met with the Project Implementation Mission at the Ministry’s conference hall. The mission comprising of four members is in the country from May 10-25 to provide guidance in preparing the project completion review report.

    During their stay, the mission visited project sites and met with dairy, vegetables and yak herders groups, lead farmers and Pema Feed Mill in Trashigang among others.

    Lord Buddha’s Parinirvana or Duechen Nga Zom is observed on the 15th Day of the Fourth Month of Bhutanese calendar which this year falls on 21st May. It was on this day that the Buddha was conceived, born, subdued evil, gained enlightenment and attained Nirvana. It is considered as one of the most auspicious days for Buddhists all over the world.

DNV GL is the prominent International Certification Body with the main expertise in Technical Assessment, Advisory and Risk Analysis for quality and safety of products and services over a wide range of disciplines.

  • Consultative Workshop to realign Feed & Fodder Development Activities

    18 to 19 May 2016, Bumthang: The consultative meeting was held to realign and overhaul feed and fodder development activities in the country. The meeting attended by officials from the four Regional Livestock Development Centers and the National Research Center for Animal Nutrition, Bumthang deliberated various issues and adopted resolutions keeping in mind the recommendations of recent OD exercise carried out. The key resolutions include development of specific terms of reference (ToR) pertaining to feed and fodder development activities including streamlining of reporting system for NRCAN and RLDCs and strengthening linkages among key stakeholders. The animal nutrition is one of the crucial components of livestock production and as such, sustainability of any livestock based enterprises in the country depends on availability of adequate feed and fodder resources. With clear redefining of roles and responsibilities of the main players, it is expected to improve coordination and take way forward to gear towards achieving feed and fodder self-sufficiency in the country to support sustainable livestock production in the years to come.

  • Mongar farmers take part in Climate Change quiz program

    DSC01645May 16, Mongar: Thirty-two farmers from 17 Geogs participated in a day-long quiz competition on the theme “Understanding the Basics of Climate Change” at RDC-Wengkhar.

    The program was aimed at creating awareness on the basic but useful information related to climate change (CC) which is now regarded as one of the major environmental problems globally. Therefore, it is important that people at the community level understand its importance and their role in saving the environment.
