  • AMC officially released four books on Farm Mechanization

    12 September, Thimphu: The Agriculture Machinery Centre (AMC) officially released four books on farm mechanization yesterday. The Honourable Director, DoA officially signed and released the books in presence of Program Director, AMC, chiefs and officials from AMC at the chamber of Director, Department of Agriculture. The books were on Farm Mechanization Need Assessment Survey Report, Power Tiller Mechanic Training for National Certificate Levele-2, Power Tiller Operation Training for National Certificate Level-2 and Quality Management Manual.

    The result of the Farm Mechanization Need Assessment Survey, analysis and the outcome is expected to be consistent with the actual needs, and thus strengthen the farm mechanization interventions. The shift in the approach is a step to revolutionize farm mechanization making it vibrant and ensuring relevance. The outcome of the survey was launched with objectives to identify the difficulties faced in farming, which can be addressed by farm mechanization interventions and it will form a guide and focus for the 12th five-year plan. The survey was conducted by involving over 100 farmers in each Dzongkhags.

  • Study visit for Land Use Certificate Project Youths

    The Agriculture and Research Development Centre (ARDC)-Wengkhar and Trashiyangtse Dzongkhag conducted a study visit on 4-5 September for 11 youths who has recently started the Land Use Certificate (LUC) Project in Tsendung, Trashiyangtse.

    The youths attended an awareness program on commercial farming at Wengkhar and nearby commercial farms in Mongar especially those initiated by youths such as Mongar agro-processing enterprise by four youths and a youth initiated commercial farm in Jangdung.

  • Mass Dog Sterilization & Vaccination Campaign underway

    27 Aug- 24 Sept, Paro: The Regional Livestock Development Centre Tsimasham, Dzongkhag Livestock Sector Paro and National Dog Population Management & Rabies Control Project, NCAH Serbithang is conducting a month long community animal birth control program (CABC). The program is targeted to tackle the over population crisis in Paro Dzongkhag by working closely with community to advocate responsible pet ownership and to encourage community to adopt free roaming dogs in their community by feeding, caring and welfare by having them sterilized and vaccinated. The ongoing program was coordinated and consulted among the relevant stakeholders (geog administration, resorts, hoteliers, business community, agencies & municipal) by giving them ownership of community animal birth control and involving them during catching of free roaming community dogs.

    The increase trend of dog population over a year triggered many issues like increase of dog bite cases in children, tourist, livestock species and also social nuisances like disturbances, solid waste management issues. The one day consultation meeting was attended by Dasho Dzongdag, relevant stakeholders, RLDC, RNR-ECs and Dzongkhag livestock sector to mainly discuss the implementation modalities.

  • Training on wildlife crime control and detection techniques

    Training on wildlife crime control and detection techniques was conducted at Phuentsholing from August 28-30 to enhance the capacities of various checkpost personnel including participants from DRC, BAFRA, RBP and Royal Court of Justice.

    It was organised by the Department of Forests and Park Services jointly with INTERPOL and Wildlife Crime Control Bureau of India.

  • 1st Consultative RNR Census 2019 Technical Working Group meeting underway

    In the runup to the conduct of the RNR Census 2019, the first Consultative RNR Census Technical Working Group meeting is underway at Metta Resort and Spa in Paro from 31st August – 1st September 2018. The RNR Census 2019 will provide updated benchmark agricultural data at the lowest administrative level for the formulation of policies in RNR Sector. Moreover, one of the most important outcomes of the RNR Census 2019 will be the generation of reliable, comprehensive, coherent, internationally comparable and up-to-date information on the agricultural and rural sector for planning, monitoring and evaluation process.
