August 28, Chukha: People in Bjabcho village have been facing wild life issues for a long time particularly during the crop season. After all the options to guard their crops had failed, the villagers turned to the Ministry for an electric fencing. Considering the priority, the village was provided with a 5.4 km electric fencing.
31 August, Thimphu: The Ministry of Agriculture and Forests (MoAF) with support from Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations conducted a Stakeholders Workshop on Roadmap for developing Strategic Plan on RNR Statistics (SP-RNRS) at Tarayana Foundation Conference Hall on the 28th August 2015.
The Workshop was attended by twenty (20) officials from Department of Agriculture (DoA), Department of Forests and Park Services (DoFPS), Department of Marketing and Cooperatives (DAMC), Information and Communication Services (ICS), Policy and Planning Division (PPD), Human Resource Management Division (HRMD), Ministry of Labour and Human Resources (MoLHR), Department of Customs and Revenue (DRC, MoF), Regional Food Corporation of Bhutan (FCB), National Statistics Bureau (NSB), FAO Country Office, Mr. Yagyash Gautam (International Consultant) and Mr. Nidup Peljor (National Consultant).
August 26-27, Thimphu: The SAARC Regional Expert Consultation Meeting on the status and future prospect of organic agriculture for safe food security in SAARC countries was held for the first time in Bhutan. It was jointly organised by the SAARC Agriculture Centre (SAC), Dhaka, Bangladesh and the National Organic Programme (NoP), Department of Agriculture (DoA), Bhutan.
August 31, 2015, Thimphu: The Council of RNR Research of Bhutan (CoRRB) last Friday handed over 60 decimal Agriculture Technology Garden to Yangchenphu Higher Secondary School (YHSS). BAFRA’s Director General (DG) Namgay Wangchuk formally handed over the garden by unveiling the signpost in presence of officials from Agriculture and Forests Ministry, Education Ministry, Principal, teachers and students of the school.
