  • Fuel Station inaugurated at Saling Gewog in Mongar

    Lyonpo Yeshey Dorji inaugurated the Saling/ Lingmethang Petroleum Oil and Lubricants (PoL) Station and handed over 41 Mini/Power tillers to 10 Gewogs of Mongar Dzongkhag on 18 July 2018. He graced the unveiling of the Geog Sales/Services Centre and PoL station at Limethang under Saling Geog, Mongar Dzongkhag. This is the 11th PoL station constructed by the Farm Machinery Development Corporation Ltd, (FMCL) in Paro. The Services Centre and PoL station at Saling Geog will immensely help in enhancing the hiring services through this center as well as providing cooking gas and other agriculture items.

    Lyonpo Yeshey Dorji also handed over with 10 mini tillers/31 nos Power tillers (in total 41 Nos) in addition to the 46 Power Tillers already available in the Dzongkhag. The Dzongkhag now has 88 Power Tillers distributed amongst 15 Geogs. The power tiller was handed over to the Gups of the ten Geogs.

    The International Day of Cooperatives (IDC) is a yearly opportunity to highlight and reflect on the status, challenges and opportunities of the cooperatives. This year, the day fell on July 7 and the International Co-operative Alliance (ICA) had adopted “Sustainable Consumption and Production of Goods and Services” as a theme for this year.

  • Agriculture program for Thimphu students concluded

    2-9 July, Thimphu: More than 202 students from 17 schools in Thimphu successfully completed a week long summer student engagement program in Agriculture.

    The program covered various activities at eight sites under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forests including at the Tashichho Dzong Greener Project, Agro-Forests Project, RDC-Yusipang, Kawang Gewog and National Mushroom Centre. Each student group and escort teacher shared their experiences and challenges faced during the program at the end. The students also requested to organise a similar program in Thimphu’s all 36 schools in the future.
