  • MoAF Website Ranked First Again

    May 17, Thimphu: The Ministry of Agriculture and Forests’ website retained its title as the Best Website  in the Third National Website Competition. The MoAF Website run by MoAF’s Information and Communication Services was ranked First last year too during the second round of competition.

    The websites were assessed on categories like usability and reliability, content and aesthetics, security and privacy, electronic and mail services, citizen participation, and features like subscription and email notification among others.

  • Workshop on “Dairy Processing and Product Diversification”

    UntitledNational Dairy Development Centre, an apex body mandated to coordinate and oversee dairy development activities across the nation conducted a two days workshop on “Dairy Processing and Product Diversification” from 17 June to 18 June, 2014 at Mini Dairy Plant Wangchutaba. The workshop was first of its kind and was focused to provide in depth knowledge on dairy product processing for the Dairy focal officers in Dzongkhags and Regional Livestock Development Centres (RLDCs). The workshop was opened by Mr. Naiten Wangchuk, Chief Livestock Officer. The participants were from Thimphu, Haa, Paro, Punakha, Wangduephodrang, Sarpang, Chhukha, Samtse and RLDCs of Tshimasham and Wangduephodrang.

    The workshop provided participants with basic dairy processing skills through adoption of appropriate technologies and improved dairy management practices particularly “Clean Milk Production” at farm level and thereafter. The participants were also provided hands-on training on Yoghurt Production Technology on the second day.

  • Awareness on self-help group approaches held

    Untitled27-30 May, Samdrupjongkhar: Phuntshothang (Bangtar) under Samdrupcholing Drungkhag in Samdrupjongkhar is a highly potential area for fresh milk and other dairy products. Considering this, the Dzongkhag Livestock Sector carried out the awareness cum training on self-help group approaches for its farmers with support from Drungkhag and geog administration for 4 days.

    More than 150 participants attended the training. The main purpose was to make rural farmers understand on the group concept and concentrate on the group marketing of fresh milk to urban towns, helping them to generate cash income.
