  • NPiRDC observed Social Forestry Day & Ozone Day 2020

    The National Piggery Research and Development Centre, Department of Livestock, Gelephu joins the Nation in commemorating the Coronation Day of our Great Forth King. Every year the Day is observed on 2nd June and it is greatly known as the Social Forestry Day. As a tribute to Druk Gyal Zhepa for his profound respect to Environment and to make the NPiRDC campus greener and cleaner, the staff and the family members including school children residing within the campus came together to plant horticulture saplings that include areca nut, litchi, coconut, mango and jackfruits. Around 200 numbers of seedlings were planted in an area of one acre. It’s also our wishes that any green house gases (GHG) emission by piggery farm is absorbed by plants for synthesis of clean oxygen for prevention of ozone layer depletion.  Every year Ozone day is mark on 4th June coinciding with the Birth Anniversary of Her Majesty the Gyaltsuen. The Program Director of the Centre also briefed the volunteers on the significance of the Day.
