  • Dairy product diversification training for Bumthang dairy groups

    The Dzongkhag Livestock Sector, Bumthang and  National Dairy Research and Development Centre, Yusipang conducted two days training in the first week of June 2019 for dairy groups of Tamshing and Chhumig on production of dairy products like yogurt, paneer, lassi and ice cream.

    The training was conducted to solve marketing problems of butter and cheese through product diversification. Following the training, the Sector intends to focus on production of various products at a larger scale apart from ordinary butter and cheese, owing to the market availability and demand. The same training will be provided to the dairy groups of Tang and Ura in the coming year.

  • Training to enhance veterinary clinical services in east-central region

    10-12 June, Thimphu: Thirty six livestock field staffs comprising of 6 veterinary officers, 24 livestock extension agents and 6 laboratory technicians working in Zhemgang, Sarpang, Trongsa and Bumthang (east-central region) are attending a training on ‘Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs) for Veterinary Clinical Services’.

    The training is designed to standardise and perform veterinary clinical services in a consistent and correct manner across the country. The training will enhance technical skills and knowledge of field staffs to help them provide better quality of clinical veterinary services to pet/farm owners and ultimately enhance customer care services. The training follows a series of lecture modules and extensive hands-on practical sessions to test the SoPs and enhance the skills of participants in using these SoPs.

  • Dairy product processing training for Haa farmers and youth

    5-9, June, Haa: Five days training programme on yogurt, paneer and cheese processing is underway in Haa. The training is organised by the Dzongkhag Livestock Sector and National Dairy Research and Development Centre.

    Participants include members from dairy groups, youth working in milk processing unit (MPU) and yogurt entrepreneurs in Haa.
