  • Executive Order

    Vaccination in livestock is the best tool in protecting animal health and public health, ensure better animal production, protect humans from zoonoses and reduce the need for antibiotics to treat animals. Besides, vaccines are environmentally friendly and sustainable to manage livestock health. Recognizing these benefits of livestock vaccination in prevention and control of livestock diseases, the Department of Livestock hereby approve the use of animal vaccines as public good. Therefore, all livestock and poultry vaccines in the national vaccination schedule should be provided free of cost to the clients. The vaccines in the national vaccination schedule includes:

    1. Foot and Mouth disease
    2. Haemorrhagic Septicemia
    3. Black Quarter
    4. Anthrax
    5. Classical Swine Fever
    6. Peste des petits ruminant
    7. Infectious Bursal disease
    8. New Castle disease
    9. Fowl pox
    10. Marek’s disease
    11. Rabies

  • Executive Order

    Recognizing the importance of uniformity in pet registration system throughout the country, the Department hereby notify all concerned that the pet registration cards/booklets henceforth will be standardized for use in all animal health centres in the country. The standardized pet registration cards/booklets and the pet registration database shall be made available to all concerned agencies for use in their respective centres.

    However, in order to ensure responsible pet ownership without delay, the Department persuades the Dzongkhag Veterinary Hospitals/City Veterinary Hospitals/National Animal Hospital within Dzongkhag Thromde to charge Nu. 100 (Ngultrum one hundred only) as pet registration fees. The registration fees for pets in areas outside the Dzongkhag Thromde (LECs/RNR-ECs) shall charge Nu.50 (Ngultrum fifty only). The renewal of the registration booklet should be provided free of cost to the pet owners. The registration fee collection will come into effect w.e.f. 1st July 2016
