  • Workshop on Animal Health and Production Services underway

    Workshop pictureMarch 29-April 2, Phuentsholing: The Department of Livestock is conducting a five days “Training Workshop on Animal Health and Production Services” at the City Veterinary Hospital. Fifty participants from various agencies like Wildlife Conservation Division, Drug Regulatory Authority, BAFRA and College of Natural Resources along with Veterinary Officers from 20 Dzongkhags, Regional Livestock Development Centres, National Centre for Animal Health (NCAH), National Animal Hospital (NAH), NPBC and AHD are attending it.

    The workshop is being organised to revamp and develop veterinary clinical services in the country, to link animal health to production and to share scientific research/field clinical experiences. Participants will also work on the implementation modality for the third phase National Dog Population Management and Rabies Control Project.

  • MoU signed between DoL and CNR for technical and scientific collaboration

    A50X5140March 15 Thimphu: The Department of Livestock (DoL), Ministry of Agriculture and Forests and College of Natural Resources (CNR), Royal University of Bhutan signed a Memorandum of Understanding in presence of Hon’ble Lyonpo Yeshey Drorji, Minister for Ministry of Agriculture and Forests.

    The MoU states that a joint science and development committee will be formed for the effective utilisation of existing resources of agencies in veterinary science and animal science. The committee will support and share resources for academic teachings, joint research activities recommended by the science and development committee.

  • Consultative Workshop to adopt Livestock Feed Standard in Bhutan

    Untitled14th March, Phuntsholing: The consultative workshop to set and adopt livestock feed standard in Bhutan was held on March 14. For the first time, technical department, regulatory agencies (DRA & BAFRA), private feed millers and suppliers came together to discuss and agree on the nutrient requirement standard including use or non-use of antimicrobial in livestock and poultry feeds.

    The availability of quality feed plays a crucial role on the production motion of pulsating livestock production and hence, the performance of livestock based industry depends on healthy feed milling industry. Further, the sustainability of feed industry is also directly reliant to livestock production. Therefore, it is indispensible to have standards for the production of uniform livestock and poultry feeds in Bhutan.
