2-7 May 2017: The Snowman Trek Trail has been regarded as the World’s most difficult Trek by many in this field. Hence this popular trail is also prone to littering by both foreign trekkers and locals alike.
The Department of Forests and Park Services under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forests is one of the core leading initiative taking groups in case of waste management from government organisations besides guarding natural resources of the country. Parks and Sanctuaries under the department are supposed to be well protected, maintained and free from all sorts of issues, however it is found to be quite tough because of human interference within the jurisdictions. Snow man track is one of the popular and well known tracking routes in Bhutan which is also quite popular to other countries. More than half length of this route falls within the jurisdiction of Wangchuck Centennial National park. Travellers including nomads, cordycep collectors and tourists make their travel along this route. Along the way they throw away plastic items, glass bottles and papers generated from junk and other food stuffs. It got accumulated for so many years creating dirty environment nullifying beauty of the route. This has remained one of the challenges so far. However this year the WCNP was able to bring down this issue to a significantly lower level.

The Hon’ble Lyonchhoen Tshering Tobgay graced the opening of the symposium. Addressing the participants, he shared that managing water resources is one of the important flagship projects prirotised in the 12th FYP. He urged them to focus on how to supply adequate water to the households and how to conserve water. He also urged them to come up with a proper measure to mange water resources in the country.

8 May 2017, Wangdue: It’s hot, really hot in Wangdue but for 122 forestry officials who joined for the two-week military and arms training, there is no resting in the shade to evade the sweltering sun. Upon a roar of command by the instructor, they frantically rush for a follow-in. Soon, the colossal roar fills the air reverberating the whole area.
A total of 122 forestry officials, which includes 33 male officers, 10 lady officers, 57 male Rangers, 5 lady rangers and seven drivers of the Department of Forests and Park Services are currently undergoing arms training at MTC, Tencholing which commenced on 6th May and ends on 20th May 2017.

7 May 2017, Dagala: The 18th Farm Shop of the Thimphu region was opened today by the Hon’ble Minister for Agriculture and Forests, Lyonpo Yeshey Dorji today. Also present at the opening were the Director General of the Department of Agricultural Marketing and Cooperatives; Dasho Dzongdag of the Thimphu Dzongkhag Administration; and MoAF, Dzongkhag, Gewog and FCBL officials.
