  • Tsirang to Declare as Capital of Bamboo: Glimpses of Social Forestry Day

    2 June, Tsirang: Crowned as the youngest King on 2nd June 1974, the nation observes the day as the Coronation day of His Majesty the Fourth King Jigme Singye Wangchuck. The day is celebrated with much enthusiasm every year and also it is observed as the Social Forestry Day in Bhutan. Wisdoms and achievements of the great fourth King benefits the generation. One such blessing is His Majesty’s care for environment enshrined in the Constitution of the Kingdom. The day is to show our love and respect to the farsighted Monarchs and the Mother Nature by doing many environmental activities through people’s participation.

    In Tsirang the day was celebrated at Lungsegang Community Forest in Tsholingkhar geog. Honbl’e Dasho Dzongda graced the occasion as the Chief guest. Other dignitaries present were Venerable Lam Neten, Dasho Drangpon, Dzongkhag Thrizin, Regional Heads, Sector Heads, Gups, RNR staffs, staff of Tsirang Forest Division and members of Lungsegnag Community Forest Management Group.

    June 2: As every year, this year too, the Social Forestry Day coinciding with the Coronation Anniversary of our beloved Fourth Druk Gyalpo has been celebrated across the country by planting tree saplings. In Thimphu, the event was held at Kuenselphodrang Nature Park.
