Thimphu: On March 6, at 10 am, 108,000 seedlings was planted in all 20 Dzongkhags and 205 geogs to celebrate the Birth of His Royal Highness (HRH) The Gyalsey. A seedling each was planted by every household in the country which was distributed by the Department of Forests and Park Services. Besides this, a ceremonial plantation of 2000 seedlings was also carried out by Dzongkhags which was organised by the Dzongkhag Forestry Sector and Dzongkhag Administration with prayers for long life and happiness of HRH The Gyalsey.
In Thimphu, 5,108 seedlings were planted in 5 acres area at Kuenselphodrang by the volunteers, foresters, teachers, student, arm forces, elders and monks. More than 5000 turned out for the plantation which was a record for maximum participation at plantation. This indicates people’s love and dedication for the Royal Birth of The Gyalsey. The plantation of 108,000 seedlings is also a record for maximum tree seedlings planted in a day in Bhutan.
