October 5-9, Paro: A national level workshop on REDD+ Safeguards and multiple benefits was organised at Namsaycholing Resort. The participants included the members of Technical Working Group (TWG) on Safeguards, members of other TWGs for REDD+ Program in Bhutan and other relevant stakeholders.
October 7-8, Thimphu: The third annual Jomolhari Mountain Festival was held at Dangochong, near Jomolhari base camp. It was organised by Jigme Dorji National Park in collaboration with the communities of Soe Yutoe, Soe Yaksa, Nubri and Jomolhari School. The Director General of the Department of Forest and Park Services graced the festival as the Chief guest where more than 150 people from the Jomolhari region gathered to witness and participate in the event. Besides the local people, the turnout of the foreign tourist for the festival has increased as compared to the previous years.

1-3 October, Thimphu: The three days, National Park conference with the theme ‘paradigm shift in Protected Area Management System in Bhutan’ was organised by Wildlife Conservation Division at Royal Botanical Park, Lampelri. The Launching of the Park Conference was graced by Hon’ble MoAF Lyonpo Yeshey Dorji accompanied by Dasho Ritu Raj; Hon’ble chair of Environment Committee from National Assembly, Dr. Genevieve Boyreau; World Bank’s Resident Representative and senior country economist for Bhutan, Ms. Niamh Collier-Smith, Dy. Resident Representative of UNDP, Representatives from WWF Bhutan Programme, Bhutan Trust Fund for Environmental Conservation and the senior officials from the Ministry.
October 1, Thimphu: The Research and Development Centre (RDC) Yusipang organised a field day on Quinoa ( Chenopodium quinoa Wild), a new crop introduced in the country for the first time. The event was graced by the Hon’ble Lyonpo Yeshey Dorji accompanied by Dasho Tenzin Dhendup, the Agriculture Secretary, Mr. Nim Dorji, the Director General for Department of Agriculture (DoA) and other officials from the Ministry.
