    May 19, Lhuentse: Twenty farmers from seven geogs of Kurtoed, Gangzor, Jaray, Khoma, Menbi, Metsho and Tshenkharla attended a day-long quiz competition on Climate Change (CC). The program was organised to create awareness on its basic information and impacts for better preparedness as climate change today, is regarded as one of the major environmental concerns globally.

  • Exit Interview for civil servants on superannuation

    Picture1Mr. Jigme Wangdi, Specialist III, DoA superannuated from service with effect from 1 April 2017. He first joined as trainee Officer in the then Department of Research and Development Service, Ministry of Agriculture. While in the service, he served in various capacities as Extension Officer, Research Officer, Principal Research Officer and Specialist III which is equivalent to the Position Level of Director. An Exit Interview was carried out to get valuable feedback and suggestions which will be used for improving the existing system.

    The Ministry of Agriculture and Forests takes this opportunity to thank for his commitment and contribution to the Royal Government of Bhutan. We heartily congratulate for rendering 33 years of committed and dedicated service to the Tsa-Wa-Sum. We wish you and your family a very happy life ahead.

  • Bhutan and the World Bank Sign 8 Million US$ Grant to Increase Agricultural Productivity

    Thimphu, May 18, 2017 — The Royal Government of Bhutan and the World Bank today signed a $8 million Global Agriculture Food Security Program (GAFSP) grant that will help increase agricultural productivity and enhance access to markets for farmers in selected gewogs in Southwest Bhutan. The World Bank will be the supervising entity while the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) will provide technical assistance for the project.

  • UWICER: Two Years Certificate Course in Conservation, Environment and Forestry Studies

    The Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Conservation and Environmental Research (UWICER) is pleased to announce two years Certificate Course in Conservation, Environment and Forestry Studies (2017 – 2019) for minimum Class X passed students with the following criteria:

    • Have to complete eight kilometres (8 km) marathon in fifty (50) minutes
    • Have to have a minimum of 50% in all the subjects (Optional subject will be excluded)
    • Selection will be based on academic result of Class Ten
