  • Second batch of Farm Machinery Training completes

    mmexport1480653568334November 30: Sixty operators completed a second batch of farm machinery training on power tiller and tractor that was conducted in Paro, Samteling and Khangma offices of the Agriculture Machinery Centre. They shall be now engaged as geog power tiller operators.

    In Paro, 20 operators were trained in operation and maintenance of power tiller who were nominated by the Dzongkhag Agriculture Sectors of Trongsa, Wangdue and Punakha. In Samteling, 24 operators were trained; they were nominated from Sarpang and Zhemgang. In Khangma, 11 operators from Mongar and Trashigang were trained. Five operators were trained for tractor course at Paro which is a three month course.

    November 14-25, Paro: Twenty untrained extension officers (EOs) from Thimphu, Paro, Haa, Chukha, Samtse, Dagana, Wangdue and Punakha completed training on the operation and maintenance of power tiller at the Agriculture Machinery Centre (AMC). They were awarded certificates by the Chief-Guest, the Chief Executive Officer of the Farm Mechanisation Corporation Limited.

    November 28, Thimphu: The Department of Agriculture (DoA) and Katahira and Engineers International (KEI) signed the consultancy agreement under which 353 power tillers had been approved by the Japanese Government. The signing was done between the Agriculture Director, Kinlay Tshering and the Deputy Director for KEI, Takuji Kono.

  • Lead Farmer Training for 2016 begins at ARDC-Wengkhar

    14731303_1117043611750424_415418132756432805_nNovember 23-25, Mongar: A training for 42 farmers identified from six eastern Dzongkhags who will be the lead farmers in farmer-to-farmer extension approach, demonstration and awareness for promotion of fruits, vegetables and cereal crops under CARLEP-Agriculture component begun at the Agriculture Research and Development Centre (ARDC)-Wengkhar.

    Participants are introduced to the crops and management practices that they will be adopting under CARLEP led by ARDC-Wengkhar. It will be followed by the orchard layout and land preparation in the coming month. Participants will return in January to attend the second training session before taking planting materials to their sites to start implementing what is demonstrated and trained.

    Dagana: About 109 participants including farmers and the Agriculture Extension Officers (AEOs) from geogs of Largyab, Tsangkha, Tsendagang, Gozhi and Dorona attended a campaign on Citrus Fruit Drop Collection and Destruction at Drujeygang geog on 17-18 November. It was organised by the National Plant Protection Centre (NPPC) and the Dzongkhag Agriculture Sector of Dagana.
