    7 November, Mongar: Like any farming village, Ngarupongtang village under Thangrong geog has also suffered from the human wild life conflicts of crop raids by wild animals despite putting up different types of fencings materials like barbed wire and stone walls.  Farmers guard their crops day and night and yet, wild animals like pigs, monkeys, cattle, porcupine and deer take their share. Statistics maintained at the gewog extension centre shows that almost 50 % of the crop loss is due to wild boars, followed by monkeys 25 %, stray cattle 11%, Porcupine 8 % and others such as deer 10 %.

  • Picture Story: RNR Professional Development Programme

    6 November, Thimphu: 23 Extension Agents (10 Forestry, 7 Livestock and 6 Agriculture) serving in remote parts of the country have been invited to Thimphu on a RNR Professional Development Programme. They will be placed at their respective headquarters in the capital to learn the functioning of their department’s head offices in Thimphu. They also have an option to get attached to any other department or agency if they wish to learn more about that agency. These extension agents will be undertaking this programme for a period of one month till 6 December 2017.
