    Bhur, May 26-29, 2015: As part of improving rice productivity and production in the country, a four-day basic rice production training was organised for extension agents and field technicians at RDC Bhur in Sarpang Dzongkhag from May 26-29, 2015. Twenty extension agents from Sarpang, Samdrup Jongkhar and Zhemgang Dzongkhags and six research assistants/field technicians from RDC Bajo, Bhur, Yusipang and National Seed Centre attended the training.

  • Mini Tiller MS88 proves effective

    OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe Agriculture Machinery Centre (AMC), Department of Agriculture (DoA), Ministry of Agriculture and Forest imported two units of Mitsubishi Mini Power Tiller MS88 in May 2015 to explore the effectiveness and efficiency of the machine in hilly areas. Weighing only 140 kilograms, the sample of medium size patrol engine power tiller was brought under pre-demonstration test at Agriculture Machinery Training Centre, AMC on 4th June 2015.

    After the test, this machine was found to be effective and efficient while ensuring quality of performance in the field. Another added feature of the machine is that it can be handled and operated by a woman. The machine is being introduced to strengthen farm mechanization services to the farmers in high terrace and narrow field.

The variety is introduced to India from Israel. The plant starts fruiting within one year and can yield as high as 15000 kg per acre under proper management.

    Trashiyangtse: A semi commercial water melon production in Wangringmo, Ramjar geog began in March 2015 under the research outreach program/HRDP Post Project Activity 2015. The program was aimed to diversify crop production, intensify land use (relay cropping after paddy) and also to utilise the irrigation facilities put in Wangringmo by the Department and the Dzongkhag Agriculture Sector in the past.
