The Training of Trainers (TOT) on principles and practices in Organic Agriculture was held in Wangdue from 22 – 25 December, 2014 and in Mongar from 29 December, 2014 to 1 January, 2015. This training was organized by the National Organic Programme (NOP) to train Extension and Research Officials who had not attended the previous TOTs or undergone organic module in the College of Natural Resources (CNR) or other institutes.
The training was attended by 40 participants from both Extension and Research fields representing from 15 Dzongkhags namely Gasa, Punakha, Wangdue, Bumthang, Tsirang, Thimphu, Dagana, Chhukha, Haa, Mongar, Trashigang, Trashiyangtse, Lhuentse, Pemagatshel and Zhemgang. The topics included the principles of Organic Agriculture, organic soil fertility management, pest and disease management, organic standards, certification and marketing, organic seed production, Ecological engineering/farmscaping/permaculture, world famous documentaries, practical, roles and activities of the NOP in the promotion of Organic Agriculture in the country.
