  • Field day for improved off grid cardamom curing dryer in Dagana

    img_1475A field day programme was jointly organized by the Dzongkhag Agriculture Sector and Agriculture Machinery Centre on improved large scale off grid curing dryer for cardamom. It was held on October 25, at farmer’s place in Kana geog under Dagana Dzongkhag. More than seventy farmers from all geogs and all extension officers attended.

    AMC explained the test results and also the advantages of this modified improved curing dryer which is originally from India. Series of modifications were made and had more advantages over the traditional method. It is fire risk free, smoke free and with slow drying rate, the quality is very good. It is dried using heat instead of fire as in traditional method. It is fuel efficient and also can be dried during the rain. The progressive farmer who had installed this technology for tests explained on the huge advantages of this technology and also showed the dried products. He dried more than 2000 kgs on this dryer.

  • World Food Day celebrated at Laya

    a50x0580October 16, Gasa: The World Food Day this year was celebrated at Laya, Gasa coinciding with the Royal Highland Festival 2016 organised by Gasa Dzongkhag and Department of Livestock.

    Hon’ble Dr. Sonam Kinga, National Council chairperson inagurated the event. Present also were Hon’ble Lyonpo Yeshey Dorji; Minister for Ministry of agriculture and Forests, Hon’ble Lyonpo Damcho Dorji; Minister for Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Farmers, students, tourists and other dignitaries.

  • Eastern Dzongkhag Officials attend awareness program on RADP

    participantsSeptember 29, Mongar: Dzongdags, Dzongrabs and Dungpas from the six eastern Dzongkhags led by the Dzongkhag Agriculture Officers attended an introductory and awareness program on the Regional Agriculture Development Program (RADP) Supports under the Commercial Agriculture and Resilient Livelihoods Enhancement Program (CARLEP-IFAD) which began earlier this year.

    The meeting shared the information on the programs and the implementation approaches adopted by the Agriculture Research Development Centre (ARDC), Wengkhar and the Office of Program Management (OPM), CARLEP. It was also an interactive forum to seek views and directives from the Dzongkhag Administrations for strengthening implementation process.
