14 July 2017, Thimphu: The Krgyz Delegation Members led by Her Excellency Ms. Samargul Adamkulova, Ambassador of Kyrgyz to the Republic of India; Mr. Keshav Verma, Senior Advisor to the Global Snow Leopard Ecosystem Protection program (GSLEP); and Dr. Koustubh Sharma, International Coordinator, (GSLEP) Program are on an official three day visit to Bhutan.
5 July, 2017, Mongar: On 1 July 2017, the Department of Agricultural Marketing & Co-operatives, as a member of the International Co-operative Alliance (ICA), celebrated the UN-IDC, in Mongar with members from the eight different groups and co-operatives within Mongar Dzongkhag. The Hon’ble Minister of Agriculture & Forests also conveyed a message on this day through Kuensel, wishing all co-operative members a bright and successful future and exhorting all of them to work hard to fulfill their socio-economic aspirations.
3 July 2017 is a Public Holiday in Bhutan to observe the Birth Anniversary of Guru Rinpoche. It is celebrated on the tenth day of the sixth lunar month, which typically falls in June or July in the Gregorian calendar and this year on 3 July. Guru Rinpoche, also known as Guru Padmasambhava, brought Buddhism to Bhutan.
I am pleased to join the cooperative community around the world in general and the Bhutanese co-operators in particular in wishing all a Very Happy International Day of Cooperatives (IDC) on 1st July. I am delighted to learn that the theme for this year’s International Day of Co-operatives, is inclusion with the slogan “co-operatives ensure no one is left behind”. Inclusion is a theme that is heart and soul of the development ethos of the Royal Government of Bhutan.
