July 22, Samdrupjongkhar: Two farm shops at Phuntshothang and Norbugang were inaugurated by Dasho Dungpa, Samdrupcholing Dungkhag Administration and Dasho Dungpa, Nanglam Dungkhag.
In their inaugural addresses, Dasho Dungpas stated that about 70% of our population is dependent on agriculture as their main source of livelihood. Considering its importance, the Royal Government has been making concerted efforts in supporting the sector in all the development plans. Despite many program interventions, the farming communities are constrained by lack of access to quality and reliable farm inputs, poor infrastructure and market access for their farm produce and acute shortage of farm labour.

9 July 2015, Trashigang & Trashiyangtse: Dasho Drangpon of Trashigang inaugurated the Farm Shop at Rangjung under Shongphu geog in Trashigang on 9 July, 2015. The other dignitaries present during the opening ceremony were the Gups of the eight gewogs, Staff from Shongphu Gewog Administration, and representatives from Dzongkhag, Regional Heads, Regional Manager, FCBL and RNR Officials of Trashigang Dzongkhag Administration.

4 July Thimphu. The International day of Co-operatives which falls on the first Saturday of the month of July every year was celebrated by planting asparagus and by launching cooperatives song above Tandrin Ney by Hon’ble Lyoenchen Tshering Tobgay accompanied by MoAF Lyonpo Yeshey Dorji, Dasho Tenzin Dhendup, MoAF Secretary, Members of parliament, officials from the Ministry and the volunteers from famer’s group and cooperative groups under Thimphu Dzongkhag.
The International Day of Cooperatives this year marked and celebrated ‘Equality’ as the identified theme of the day. The Department of Agriculture Marketing and cooperatives (DAMC), MoAf coordinated the event to exercise the mandate to implement the Cooperatives (Amendment) Act of Bhutan (CAP), 2009.
