  • Regional Director of ICA-AP visits Bhutan

    UntitledThe Regional Director of the International Cooperative Alliance for Asia and the Pacific Region (ICA-AP), Mr Balasubramanian Iyer, accompanied by the Secretary, ICA-AP Youth Committee, arrived in the country on 10th January, 2015, to attend the National Youth seminar titled “Youth Cooperation for the young, by the young” held on 11th January with a participation of more than 150 youth, government officials, officials from International Organizations and Non-Profit Organizations. The event was organized by Bhutan’s Youth Committee Member of ICA-AP with support from ICA-AP, New Delhi and Department of Agricultural Marketing and Cooperatives (DAMC), Ministry of Agriculture and Forests (MoAF).

    The program was mainly organized to create awareness on youth cooperatives as youth are the future of the nation and what with increasing unemployment in the country, cooperative enterprises could be the future of our youth. The program also highlighted the role of the ICA in Bhutan’s cooperative movement since it’s registration as an associate member of the ICA in July 2013.

  • Buckwheat Flour Trial Marketing

    UntitledHis Excellency the Hon’ble Prime Minister of Bhutan inaugurated the Buckwheat flour trial marketing by Langpa-Nobgang Sonam Detshen from Samar Geog in Haa on 23 November, 2014. The opening of the trial marketing has been attended by H. E. the Agriculture Minister, Secretary and heads of the different departments from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forests.

    The main objective of the trial marketing has been focused on making the consumers aware of the availability of the product at different locations such as B-Coop shops at main town and Motithang (above BoD). The trial marketing was organized and supported by the farmers group, Dzongkhag Agriculture Sector-Haa and DAMC.
