    The Bhutan Agriculture and Food Regulatory Authority (BAFRA), Ministry of Agriculture and Forests would like to notify the Food Business Operators that all prepackaged food intended for sale in the country must be labelled either in English or Dzongkha as per the Food Act of Bhutan 2005 and its Regulations. Further, the prepackaged food label must have the following minimum labelling requirements as per the Bhutan Standard for Labelling of Prepackaged Food:

    1. Name of the food
    2. List of ingredients
    3. Net content
    4. Name and address of manufacturer
    5. Country of origin
    6. Lot identification or batch number
    7. Manufacturing date
    8. Expiry/Best before date

  • Notification

    In an effort to mainstream import as well as to ensure safety of foods of animal origin which are imported into Bhutan from India, the Bhutan Agriculture and Food Regulatory Authority (BAFRA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Export Inspection Council (EIC) of India wherein, the EIC will henceforth, test and certify such foods that are exported to Bhutan.

    To start with, the BAFRA and EIC discussed and agreed on the certification requirements of Bhutan for export of Dry Fish and Frozen Chicken to Bhutan.

  • Vacancy re-announcement

    Applications are invited from Male Bhutanese Nationals for the following posts:

    The following documents have to be submitted along with the applications.

    1. Security Clearance Certificate
    2.  Copy of Citizen ID Card
    3. Medical fitness certificate
    4. Three Nos of Passport Size Photograph
    5. NOC from previous employer in case the candidate is already employed.

    The candidates should submit their duly filled RCSC application form- during office hours with all relevant documents as mentioned above. The candidates will be interviewed on June 28, 2017 at 2.00 pm at BAFRA Hqrs. Office Thimphu. All the relevant documents must be produced in original during the interview. The preference will be given to those with similar work experience.

    5 June, 2017: Her Imperial Highness Princess Mako of Japan (inset) visited the Dasho Keiji Nishioka Museum at the Farm Machinery Corporation Ltd.(FMCL) at Paro today. The Ministry of Agriculture and Forests also offered the Kusung Thukten Mandrel to Her Imperial Highness Princess Mako on behalf of the people of Bhutan.
